About
What Smart Hub TV does
Smart Hub TV is a native tvOS 17+ media player for Apple TV. Its purpose is to let users connect to their own servers (SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, NFS, FTP, DLNA, Plex) and their own cloud storage accounts (Google Drive, Dropbox) to browse and stream their personal media files directly on the television.
The application does not host, distribute, or resell audiovisual content. All files remain in the user's own infrastructure or cloud account; Smart Hub TV only acts as a read-only client that authenticates on behalf of the user and plays back the files the user already owns or has legitimate access to.
Google user data
How Smart Hub TV uses Google user data
Smart Hub TV integrates with Google Drive via OAuth 2.0 so users can stream their own files to the Apple TV. Below is a transparent summary of the scopes requested and how the resulting data is handled.
Scopes requested
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly
Read-only access to the metadata and contents of the files stored in the user's own Google Drive, so that the app can list folders, display file names, and stream the selected video or audio file to the Apple TV.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email (optional)
Used solely to display which Google account is currently linked inside the app, so the user can recognize the active session and disconnect it at any time.
Data handling
What we do with Google user data
We use Google Drive data exclusively to let the authenticated user browse their own Drive folders and stream their own media files to their Apple TV. OAuth tokens are stored on the user's device using the tvOS Keychain and are used only to renew the session against Google's servers.
What we do NOT do
We do not copy, upload, mirror, or cache Google Drive files on Smart Dev servers. We do not sell, rent, or share Google user data with any third party. We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements, to build user profiles, or to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Limited Use compliance
Smart Hub TV's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Users can revoke access at any time from their Google Account page or by disconnecting the account from within Smart Hub TV.

FAQ
Common questions
Does Smart Hub TV store my media files?
No. The app is a playback and library client. Content stays on your servers, NAS, or cloud services.
Which devices are supported?
Apple TV running tvOS 17 or higher. Navigation is optimized for the Siri Remote with focus engine and swipe controls.
Do I need TMDB or Trakt to use the app?
No, they're optional. The app works without them, but enabling them adds artwork, metadata, and watch history tracking.
What about complex formats or subtitles?
AVPlayer handles native formats. VLC kicks in automatically as a fallback for demanding codecs, advanced subtitles, or unsupported profiles.
How does cloud login work?
Google Drive and Dropbox use OAuth with Device Code Flow — scan a QR code on your phone, authorize, and you're in. No typing on the TV.
